Produced by Michel Picard in Burgundy's prestigious Côte de Beaune region, this 2019 Pommard reflects the character of one of Burgundy's most renowned red wine appellations.
Made from Pinot Noir grapes, Pommard wines are traditionally known for their structure, concentration and ageing potential. The region's limestone and clay-rich soils contribute to wines with firm tannins, depth and complexity.
Traditional Burgundian winemaking methods typically involve careful grape selection, fermentation with skin contact and maturation in oak barrels to develop texture and aromatic complexity.
This Pommard displays a rich cherry-red colour with subtle purple reflections. The nose reveals concentrated aromas of ripe cherries, blackcurrants and dark berries, complemented by delicate spices and toasted oak.
On the palate, the wine is structured and expressive, with youthful tannins balanced by generous fruit flavours. Notes of cherry, blackberry and subtle oak develop into a lingering finish. A classic expression of Pommard, combining depth, richness and Burgundian elegance.
An excellent accompaniment to roasted and grilled red meats, particularly beef, lamb and venison. Also pairs beautifully with duck, game birds, slow-braised dishes and traditional French cuisine such as Boeuf Bourguignon.
Its structured tannins and concentrated fruit character make it particularly suitable for mature cheeses, including Comté, Époisses and other strongly flavoured cheeses.
