Located near the historical city of Toledo (La Mancha), the vineyards of Dehesa del Carrizal were established in 1984 at an old shooting lodge. It is mainly planted with foreign grape varieties and makes wines of distinct character. Awarded its own denomination of origin in 2007, of which there are only 4 in Spain. A great achievement in so short a time.

The grape harvest is hand-picked in late September to early October. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature which never exceeds 28°C, and after malolactic fermentation the mix is transferred to French oak barrels. Ageing is for 18 months and then it is allowed to rest in bottle racks for at least 12 months.

Dark cherry red colour with brick edges. Nose of rich forest red fruits and ripe red current, cocoa and coffee. Fine toast aromas, slightly mineral, spice, cedar and balsamic. In the mouth: Dry, powerful overripe red current and paprika. Complex, tobacco, mineral, very ripe tannins and long lingering aftertaste.

All type of red meats especially game and poultry. Rice, pasta and strong sauced dishes. Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Most cheeses.
