Château Vieux Rivallon is a family-owned estate in Saint-Émilion, with a history dating back to the 17th century. Charles Bouquey managed the property from 1947, and it is now directed by his grandson, Alexandre Plocq.

According to the Saint-Émilion wine association, the estate covers approximately 20 hectares, with vines averaging 35 years of age. Its vineyards contain 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and approximately 5% Malbec, although these are estate-wide proportions rather than a confirmed 2012 vintage blend.

The vineyards feature clay-gravel, siliceous and clay-loam soils. The estate uses concrete and stainless-steel fermentation vessels, with a published maturation breakdown of approximately 70% in tanks, 10% in new barrels and 20% in previously used barrels.
